For example, we may provide social media features as part of our websites that enable you to share information with your social networks and to interact with Samsung or others on various online social media networks. Your use of these features may result in the collection or sharing of information about you, depending on the feature. We recommend that you review the privacy statements of the other parties with whom you interact before submitting your information. The information we collect from you falls into two categories: Personally Identifiable Information and Non-Identifying Information. This Privacy Policy covers both types and will tell you how we might collect and use each.

1. PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION COLLECTION

"Personally Identifiable Information" means information that can be used to uniquely identify you, such as your name, address, username, email address, telephone number, and e-mail address.

What Personally Identifiable Information do we collect?
Samsung collects information on its website in two ways: (1) directly (for example, when you provide information to sign up for a newsletter or register to comment on a forum website); and (2) indirectly (for example, through our website's technology).
The following are examples of your Personally Identifiable Information that we collect:
  • Information that you provide by filling in forms on our website, including your name, address, username, email address, and password. This includes registering to use the website, subscribing to services, newsletters and alerts, applying for a job, registering for a conference, or requesting a white paper or other information, as applicable. Pages that collect this type of information may provide further information as to why your data is needed and how it will be used. It is completely up to you whether you want to provide it.
  • If you contact us, we may keep a record of that correspondence, including your contact information, such as your phone number, social media handle, or email (depending on how you contact us).
  • We may ask you to complete surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to respond to them. Pages that collect this type of information may provide further information as to why your data is needed and how it will be used. It is completely up to you whether you want to provide it.
  • Any postings, comments or other content that you upload or post on our website (for example, a blog).
  • Information that you provide by filling in job application forms on our website.
How do we use your Personally Identifiable Information?
We use personal data to provide you with information you request, process online job applications, and for other purposes which we would describe to you at the point where it is collected or which will be obvious to you. For example:
  • to fulfill your requests for white papers, articles, newsletters, or other content.
  • to personalize your experience at our website.
  • to contact you for marketing purposes where you have agreed to this.
  • for surveys or research questionnaires.
  • to generate anonymous statistics to help us improve the customer experience.
  • to train our team members.
  • for our other internal business purposes.
  • for recruiting-related purposes. (More information about how your data will be used by Samsung during the recruitment process can be found at the Samsung Careers website.

2. PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION - OTHER USES

Will we share your Personally Identifiable Information with outside parties?
Except as described in this Privacy Policy, we will not share your Personally Identifiable Information with other companies or individuals outside of Samsung unless we have received your consent. Subject to any applicable legal restrictions, we may share your Personally Identifiable Information among the Samsung group companies in order to make sure your experience is as seamless as possible, and you have the full benefit of what the Samsung group has to offer. Non-Identifying Information (as defined below) may be provided to third parties for marketing, advertising, or other uses.
Our Service Providers and Other Third Parties
We may engage third party companies and individuals to perform services on our behalf (e.g., without limitation, e-mail notifications, web analytics and other services). These third parties may have access to your Personally Identifiable Information. If they do, this access is provided so that they may perform these tasks on our behalf and they are not authorized by us to otherwise use or disclose your Personally Identifiable Information, except to the extent required by law.
Further, we may share your Personally Identifiable Information with third parties such as our co-promotional partners and others with whom we have marketing or other relationships.
Compliance with Laws, Legal Process and Authorities
We cooperate with government and law enforcement officials and private parties to enforce and comply with the law. We will disclose any information about you to government or law enforcement officials or private parties as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate to respond to claims and legal process (including but not limited to subpoenas), to protect the property and rights of us or a third party, to protect the safety of the public or any person, or to prevent or stop activity we may consider to be, or to pose a risk of being, illegal, unethical or legally actionable.

Samsung processes Personally Identifiable Information on our servers in the U.S. Your Personally Identifiable Information may be transferred to, and used by, Samsung group entities located outside of your state, province, country or other governmental jurisdiction where the privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your jurisdiction. Such export is a requirement of you providing your Personally Information to Samsung.
Business Transfers
Circumstances may arise where, whether for strategic or other business reasons, we may sell, transfer or otherwise disclose some or all of our assets, including your Personally Identifiable Information, in connection with a merger, acquisition, reorganization or sale of assets or in the event of bankruptcy. We and/or our third party service providers also automatically collect certain Non-Identifying Information from you when you access our website. We may combine your Personally Identifiable Information with Non-Identifying Information to attempt to provide you with a better experience, to improve the quality and value of our website, and to analyze and understand how our website is used. We may also use the combined information without aggregating it to serve you specifically.
