Samsung SDS announced that it received the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Center of Excellence for Independent Validators in Pharmaceutical Logistics (CEIV Pharma) certification.
This CEIV Pharma certification, following the IATA Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Lithium Batteries certification for air transportation awarded last December, demonstrates Samsung SDS’s transportation competency and top-tier service quality in this sector globally.
The CEIV Pharma is a global standard accreditation granted to companies that satisfy around 280 strict criteria related to pharmaceutical transportation processes, including meticulous temperature control; operation of specialized management personnel; quality control systems; and compliance with international regulations.
Unlike general cargo, pharmaceuticals are particularly vulnerable to degradation at room temperature so they must be stored at an optimal temperature (e.g., at low temperatures or refrigerated). Additionally, their high complexity in handling requires specialized transportation and management processes.
Samsung SDS has established a network of excellent global partners and rigorously manages the location and temperature history of pharmaceutical transportation through IoT-based transportation control services. Additionally, Samsung SDS provides high-quality services by complying with standard operating processes.
With the CEIV Pharma certification, Samsung SDS will deploy detailed air transportation procedures and standards for pharmaceuticals through the digital logistics service Cello Square and commercialize the service to continue expanding its external logistics business.
Cello Square is Samsung SDS’s digital freight forwarding platform where corporate clients can directly access all logistics processes, such as quoting, booking, transportation/customs clearance, tracking and settlement.
