Samsung SDS Collaborates with Red Hat and IBM to Strengthen Cloud Business

+ To offer Red Hat OpenShift on Samsung Cloud Platform to enhance cloud product lineup and competitiveness
+ To collaborate with IBM on cloud business including joint sales and technological support

Samsung SDS joined hands with global open source solution provider Red Hat and IBM to strengthen the competitiveness of its cloud business.

Through this collaboration, Samsung SDS will offer Red Hat OpenShift on Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP).

Moreover, Samsung SDS signed a business agreement with IBM and Red Hat with regard to expanding joint sales and technological support between the companies, and with this, IBM’s software applications will be available for use in OpenShift offered on SCP.

Red Hat OpenShift is a Kubernetes*-based platform that enables swift development, deployment, and operation of business applications in various cloud environments.
* Kubernetes: an open-source platform that supports quick and easy deployment and scaling of containerized* applications and their automated management
*Containerization: a technology that bundles up all the components needed to run an application so that they can be used like a separate server

This collaboration will allow customers using SCP to operate their corporate systems faster and more reliably through OpenShift. Moreover, it will facilitate the setup of a private cloud environment customized for customers in finance and public sectors that require a high level of security.

Recently, Samsung SDS has been targeting the enterprise cloud market mainly through its SCP customized for enterprise customers, all-in-one managed cloud service, and enterprise Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) for business innovation.

Ruth Sun, Global Managing Director of Samsung Partnership at IBM, said, “Our three companies have collaborated to offer industry-leading technologies and services. This collaboration will serve as an opportunity to provide various types of container-based cloud applications to SCP customers.”

Kyeong Sang Kim, General Manager for Korea of Red Hat, stated, “We are pleased to expand collaboration with Samsung SDS in cloud business, which will contribute to further accelerating the cloud journey of our customers.”

Scott HJ Koo, Executive Vice President and Leader of Cloud Service Business Division at Samsung SDS, said, “Combining the industry expertise of Samsung SDS and innovative services of IBM and Red Hat, we intend to expand our cloud business and actively support the digital transformation of customers to help increase their business value.”
