Samsung SDS Consecutively Wins Public Cloud Projects, Leading Digital Innovation in the Public Sector Through ‘Public-Private Partnership Cloud’

+ Wins the On-nara System (the Ministry of the Interior and Safety) and the Smart Firefighter Education and Management System (Gyeonggi-do Fire Services Academy) cloud projects
+ Provides customized services for administrative and public agencies through Samsung Cloud Platform and GPUaaS
+ Supports cloud and generative AI-based hyperautomation innovation in the public sector

Samsung SDS is actively driving digital innovation in the public sector. The company has consecutively won projects for public cloud services operated in the ‘public-private partnership cloud’ of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s National Information Resources Service.

Samsung SDS has secured cloud-native transformation projects (based on Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP)) for the Ministry’s On-nara System and the Gyeonggi-do Fire Services Academy’s Smart Firefighter Education and Management System. With this, the company has proven its capabilities in the public cloud business.

These projects are meaningful as they are pilot projects that leverage the cloud for business innovation in the public sector.

The On-nara System is used by civil servants in central administrative agencies and local governments for knowledge management, communities, emails, video conferencing, etc. Samsung SDS plans to migrate part of the system, such as knowledge management and communities, to SCP to support more stable service.

Used for innovation of educational program operation, Gyeonggi-do Fire Services Academy’s smart education and management system enables trainees to attend various firefighter education programs regardless of where they work or reside. In addition to providing a smooth SCP-based system, Samsung SDS also plans to focus on building the underlying system infrastructure for firefighter education institutions nationwide.

A public-private partnership (PPP) cloud project provides cloud services to administrative and public agencies. A private cloud service provider leases part of the government’s data center space, enabling the public sector to utilize cloud services powered by the latest private-sector technology.

Samsung SDS’s SCP on the PPP cloud uses a dedicated infrastructure and security environment for national agencies. The platform operates a physically separate Internet network, administrative business network, and public business network.

Additionally, through GPU as a Service (GPUaaS), Samsung SDS provides optimized cloud services for administrative and public agencies that wish to utilize generative AI. Samsung SDS has already applied SCP and GPUaaS to some government agencies, supporting their generative AI-based business innovation.

Jeong-heon Lee, Head of the Strategic Marketing Office and Executive Vice President, said, “We will leverage SCP, generative AI-based service platform FabriX, and the enterprise collaboration solution Brity Works to help administrative and public agencies achieve hyperautomation innovation in their work, which requires a high level of security.
