+ Ansys Korea’s simulation software is deployed on the Samsung Cloud Platform (SCP) to reinforce the cloud product lineup and competitiveness
+ Samsung SDS to expand its cloud business by jointly exploring business opportunities and sales in the defense industry, in collaboration with Ansys Korea
Samsung SDS announced on October 22nd that it signed an MOU with Ansys Korea, an engineering simulation software company, to expand its cloud business and enhance its competitiveness.
Ansys Korea is the Korean branch of Ansys, the number one global computer-aided engineering (CAE) simulation software company based in the United States. Its simulation software is essential for improving product performance and reducing development time in the manufacturing industries, including automotive, energy, defense, and semiconductors.
* Computer-aided engineering (CAE) refers to engineering simulations that use computing resources to analyze and predict phenomena more accurately.
With the MOU, Samsung SDS will provide SCPs’ GPU-centric AI cloud infrastructure. Meanwhile, Ansys Korea will be in charge of providing CAE solutions in this optimized environment, along with technical support and training.
Additionally, both companies will work closely to ensure that users can conveniently access Ansys solutions as SaaS via SCP’s Marketplace.
In particular, Ansys Korea will be able to drastically improve simulation speed compared to previous CPU environments and reduce product development cycles by leveraging SCP’s GPUaaS. With the GPU provided by SCP, computations equivalent to a week’s worth can be completed in one day. Computation speed can be enhanced by at least five times and potentially up to 33 times.
Samsung SDS and Ansys will conduct a proof-of-concept (PoC) project to establish and optimize their cloud-based solution services. They will also jointly develop businesses and conduct sales activities by combining their technology and resources, to expand the cloud business.
Joo-il Park, Country Manager of Ansys Korea, said, “By combining Ansys simulation software with Samsung SDS’s high-performance cloud resources, we will be able to achieve stable speed improvements and contribute to the advancement of complex systems required for next-generation electronic equipment sectors, including defense and aerospace. We expect to widen our business horizons through the cloud-based service business.”
Scott HJ Koo, Executive Vice President and Leader of Cloud Service Business Division at Samsung SDS, said, “This partnership will exemplify business innovation in manufacturing through cloud-based services, going beyond a mere technological partnership. With services that combine Samsung SDS’s cloud technology power and Ansys’s solution know-how, we will enhance productivity and efficiency throughout the entire product development cycle. Furthermore, we will collaborate on providing cloud-based services in the rapidly growing aerospace and defense industries globally. “
