On August 8th, Samsung SDS announced that it became the first in the Korean IT service industry to obtain the ISO/IEC 42001 certification, an international artificial intelligent (AI) management system standard.

The Artificial Intelligent Management System (AIMS) is a global standard for AI management systems, set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

It is the most reputable standard for assessing whether companies effectively manage risks and fulfill their roles in a responsible manner in AI ethics throughout the entire process of developing and operating AI-based products and services.

Samsung SDS attained the certificate for its generative AI services FabriX, Brity Copilot, and Brity Automation.

The Korean Standards Association (KSA) awarded Samsung the certificate based on a comprehensive assessment of Samsung SDS’s AI management policies, AI management system, and AI risk management, including its generative AI services.
With this certification, Samsung SDS was recognized for its compliance with international standards in AI product development and service operation management policies, as well as its capability to establish processes for AI design, development, quality, and data management.

Additionally, Samsung SDS has upgraded its digital responsibility management system to respond to risks and ethical issues that may arise during the development of generative AI products and services.

Jungtae Ahn, Executive Vice President and Leader of the Corporate Management Office at Samsung SDS said, “With this international standard certification, we will provide customers with responsible and credible AI services. We will expand the application of international standards to cover all our products and services while striving to thoroughly fulfill our social responsibilities as an AI-based solutions company.”
